MoU Signing between, Unico Hospitals PLC and Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association

Unico Hospitals PLC, a leading hospital service provider, has entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with the Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association (BHA).

As part of the agreement, Unico Hospitals PLC will extend a range of discount facilities exclusively to BHA members.

The signing ceremony took place recently at Lakeshore Heights during the International Housekeeping Week 2025 program organized by BHA, where Md. Al Amin, Chief Advisor of BHA and General Manager of Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel, along with Adra Kurian, CEO of Unico Hospitals PLC, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

Also present at the event were Md. Parvej Miah, President of BHA; Khan Ali Azam, Secretary; Alamgir Hossen, Senior Vice-President; along with other officials and members from both organizations.

BHA Marks International Housekeeping Week 2025 with Grand Celebration

The Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association (BHA) celebrated International Housekeeping Week 2025 with great enthusiasm at Lakeshore Heights, Dhaka.

The event began with an inaugural ceremony led by Md. Al Amin, Chief Advisor of BHA and General Manager of Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel. The occasion was graced by distinguished guests including Khurshed Alam, Advisor of BHA and General Manager of Hotel Elite Palace, Cumilla; Lt. Col. Md. Badrul Alam (Retd.), Advisor of BHA and COO of Sublime Facilities Management Ltd.; Khairul Bashar Sady, Advisor of BHA and COO of Coventina Lake Suites; Kabir Uddin, Zonal Manager of Diversey Bangladesh; and Adra Kurian, CEO of UNICO Hospitals.

The celebration featured a variety of engaging competitions, such as the Bed Making CompetitionTowel Art Competition, and a vibrant Cultural Program. In addition, the Power-20 Housekeeping Supervisor and Power-20 Housekeeping Attendant competitions were conducted online. Winners were awarded crests and certificates, while all participants received certificates of recognition from BHA.

The program was organized under the leadership of Md. Parvej Miah, President of BHA, with strong support from Khan Ali Azam, Secretary, and Alamgir Hossen, Senior Vice-President. Their coordinated efforts, along with the contributions of other dedicated members, ensured the event’s success.

The gathering attracted a distinguished audience, including Executive Housekeepers and associates from leading hotels and organizations across the country.

International Housekeeping Week, founded in 1981 by the International Executive Housekeepers Association (IEHA), is observed annually during the second full week of September. It honors the dedication and hard work of housekeeping and custodial staff, recognizing their vital role in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming environments.

Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association hosts Grand Iftar and Dinner in Banani

The Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association (BHA) organized a grand Iftar followed by a dinner at the prestigious hotel “Platinum Grand” in Banani on Thursday, 06th March 2025 bringing together distinguished figures from the hospitality industry, esteemed BHA members, and special guests for an evening of unity and fellowship.

The event was graced as Chief guest by Md. Shakawath Hossain, Chairman of the Advisory Board of BHA and CEO of Unique Hotel & Resorts, as the guest. Khairul Bashar Sady, Advisor of BHA and Chief Operating Officer of Coventina Lake Suites, attended as a special guest, adding prestige and inspiration to the gathering.

BHA President Mohammad Parvej Miah presided over the program, with General Secretary Khan Ali Azam and Senior Vice President Alamgir Hossen extending a warm welcome to the attendees. To encourage job seekers in various hotel industries, the Bangladesh Housekeepers Premier Cricket League is set to commence on Sunday 2nd and 3rd Febrauary 2025.

The tournament will see participation from 14 star hotels and corporate companies, making it a significant event in the industry, Organized by the Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association (BHA).

At the trophy unveiling ceremony held at Hotel Sheraton Dhaka, the organizers shared details about the league. The event’s chief guest, Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Chairman of the Advisory Council of BHA and CEO of Unique Hotel & Resorts, highlighted the importance of sports in maintaining physical and mental well-being. He noted that with the gradual decline of sports activities, the younger generation is increasingly turning towards unhealthy habits. He emphasized the necessity of engaging them in sports to foster a healthier lifestyle.

Sakhawat further stated that this initiative aims to promote mental peace, physical fitness, and camaraderie among participants. According to him, sports, culture, and tourism are three crucial elements that help individuals achieve their life goals.

Additionally, he pointed out that the league is particularly beneficial for those who could not pursue professional sports careers and have transitioned into other professions.

The event was hosted by BHA President Md. Parvej Miah. Other notable attendees included Echantar Raju, Director of Sales at Hotel Sheraton and Westin, Senior Vice President of BHA Alamgir Hossen, and several other association members.

BHA Celebrates International Housekeeping Week 2024

The Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association (BHA) celebrated International Housekeeping Week 2024 with a special event at Grace 21 Smart Hotel in Dhaka on Saturday, September 14th 2024. The celebration began with an inaugural ceremony led by Dr. M Zaman, Chairman of Grace 21 Smart Hotel.

Housekeeping teams gathered to honor the occasion, which featured a cake-cutting ceremony to recognize the contributions of housekeeping professionals in the hospitality industry.

International Housekeeping Week, observed from September 8-14 this year, celebrates the dedication and hard work of those who ensure cleanliness and comfort in hotels and other hospitality settings year-round.

BHA Hosts Free Medical Camp and Relief Distribution for Flood Victims in Comilla

The Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association has arranged a Free Medical Camp and Relief Distribution Program on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Kandale Government Primary School, Kandale, Doulkhar, Nangolkot, Comilla, to offer essential healthcare services to flood victims.

The services provided at this medical camp include General Health Check-ups, Medication and Essential Supply Distribution, Specialist Consultations, and Mental Health Support. The camp was staffed by a team of experienced doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals, and volunteers providing immediate medical assistance.

The Executive Board of the Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association said in a statement “From our inception, we are dedicated to assisting the community in distress. This free medical camp is critical to help the flood victims receive the urgent care they need to recover and rebuild their lives”. The Board extended their gratitude to Sublime Facilities Management Limited, a leading total facilities management service provider, for their coordination and commitment. BHA officials vowed to carry out such social engagements in the future. Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association (BHA) was founded in 2019 to connect hoteliers with housekeepers across the country. The organization is dedicated to the development and progression of the housekeeping profession, offering courses and collaborating with training institutes for mutual growth.

The Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association (BHA) orchestrated a memorable evening of festivity as they hosted an Iftar Party followed by Dinner at the esteemed Platinum Grand in Banani on Saturday 16th March, 2024. Distinguished guests from the hospitality industry, esteemed members of BHA, and prominent figures graced the occasion, making it a resounding success.

The event witnessed the presence of esteemed personalities including Honorable Chief Guest Shakawath Hossain, the illustrious CEO of Unique Hotel & Resorts, and Abu Bakar Siddiqui Sayed, the accomplished AGM of Platinum Grand. Their presence added to the grandeur of the evening, offering inspiration and guidance to the attendees.

A spectacular event held on February 13, 2024 at Dhaka Arena -Swadesh Shornali Abashon, Purbachal 300ft Express Road, the Bangladesh Housekeeper’s Premier League (Cricket), BHPL-2024, Season-3. The event organized by Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association (BHA).

During the ceremony, BHA presented prestigious awards, including the Man of the Matches and Series crests to outstanding players. They also honored the runner-up team “Marino Royal Hotel” and the champion team “Amari Dhaka” with medals and trophies.

The International Housekeeping Week 2023 joyously celebrated by the Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association (BHA) on September 16th, 2023 at Hotel Sarina Dhaka. The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony led by Md. Al Amin the Chief Advisor of BHA & Hotel Manager of Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel. The occasion was graced by esteemed guests including Mr. Aswani Nayan General Manager of InterContinental Dhaka, Mr. Anisur Rahman General Manager of Six Season Hotel, Mr. Krishan Kodippli General Manager of Hotel Sarina, Mr. Khurshed Alam General Manager of Grace 21 Smart Hotel and Mr. Kabir Uddin Zonal Manager of Diversey, Bangladesh.

The event showcased a unique celebration, featuring engaging Housekeeping Activities Competitions such as the Bed Making Competition, Towel Art Competition, and the Super 10 Housekeeping Supervisor challenge. Winners of these competitions were honored with medals and certificates by the Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association (BHA). Participants in these activities also received certificates of recognition.

In the Super 10 Housekeeping Supervisor Championship, Al Amin from Lakeshore Grand Dhaka emerged as the winner. The first runner-up was Md. Moniruzzaman from Crowne Plaza Dhaka Gulshan, an IHG Hotel, and the second runner-up was Mahmmud Ullah Khan from Best Western Plus Maple Leaf.

In the Bed Making Competition, Mostofa Nader Sani from Lakeshore Heights claimed the championship title. The first runner-up was Md. Sabuj Mizi from Marino Royal Hotel, and the second runner-up was Md. Rakib Hasan from Lakeshore Grand.

As for the Towel Art Competition, Aysha Khatun from Hotel Sarina Dhaka secured the championship. The first runner-up was Kyamongnu Marma from Hotel Bengal Canary Park, and the second runner-up was Abdur Rahman Rony from Lakeshore Grand.

In addition to the competitions, the BHA unveiled the 3rd edition of their magazine, “Bangladesh Housekeepers Today,” during the ceremony.

The event was skillfully coordinated by Mohammed Mainuddin Miah, who holds the role of Executive Director at the Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association and also serves as the Executive Housekeeper at InterContinental Dhaka. Alongside him was Mohammad Masum Billah, another Executive Director at the Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association and currently he holds the position of AGM – Housekeeping, Admin & Operation at United Hospital Ltd.

The event was expertly organized under the leadership of Mohammad Parvej Miah, who serves as the President of the Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association. Assisting him were Khan Ali Azam, Secretary of BHA and Alamgir Hossen, the Senior Vice-President of the association. Their combined efforts ensured the seamless execution of the event with valuable support from other dedicated members of the association.
