BHA participated a daylong journey to mastering hospitality standards at HH Expo 2023

The International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital hosted a noteworthy three-day global exhibition titled “HH Expo-2023” from 24th to 26th August 2023. This event showcased a diverse range of Hotel, Restaurant, Catering and Hospitality Products and Equipment. The exhibition’s organization was expertly handled by Savor International Limited.

Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association (BHA) participated Excellence in Housekeeping: A Daylong Journey to Mastering Hospitality Standards at the international exhibition on HORECA Market & Hospitality in Bangladesh on 26th August 2023. The Honorable Chief Guest for this occasion was Md Al Amin, the Chief Advisor of the Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association and Hotel Manager at Renaissance Gulshan Dhaka Hotel.

Enamul Hoque, Nazmul Hossain and Nazrul Islam all Senior Members of BHA extended a heartfelt welcome to the event’s guests. Khan Ali Azam the General Secretary of BHA along with Golam Mawla, Mohsin Halder and Nur Hossain all Senior Members of BHA were serving as event trainers.

The program was skillfully orchestrated by Md Parvej Miah the President of BHA. Additionally, the event was graced by the presence of Sujet, Hasan, Mamun Jhony and Senior Members.

BHA arranged daylong Journey

On Friday 4th August 2023 the “Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association (BHA)” organized an enjoyable and memorable daylong journey at Mohonpur, Chandpur. The event aimed to foster camaraderie among the housekeepers and their families, providing them with a much-needed break from their daily responsibilities.

The journey commenced early in the morning with members of the BHA gathering at the designated meeting point Sadarghat. The participants displayed enthusiasm and excitement as they boarded the Launch / Ship arranged by the association to travel Mohonpur, Chandpur.

Once at the sport, the organizers had planned a range of activities to keep everyone entertained throughout the day.

The BHA members actively participated in various fun-filled games, such as football, cricket, and badminton. These games not only brought out the competitive spirit in the participants but also encouraged teamwork and cooperation.

A sumptuous spread of local delicacies, snacks and lunch was prepared by the association. The participants savored the mouth-watering dishes, enjoying a taste of traditional Bangladeshi cuisine.

The program organized by the Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association at Mohanpur, Chadpur was an overwhelming success. It provided a refreshing break for the hardworking housekeepers and their families, allowing them to bond, relax, and enjoy each other’s company. The event left everyone with fond memories and served as a reminder of the strength and unity within the BHA community.

Celebration of International Housekeepers Weeks – 2022 arranged by BHA

Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association (BHA) arranged a Celebration Association Awards on 15th September 2022 at Hotel Sarina – Dhaka. In this program the honorable guest was Md. Al Amin, Hotel Manager of The Westin Dhaka and Krishan Kodippili, GM of Hotel Sarina. The members of BHA and Housekeepers from different hotels gathered to celebrate the “International Housekeeping Week” at Hotel Sarina. The celebration was very different with some Housekeeping Activities Competition. BHA awarded Super 10 Housekeeping attendants and Super 10 Housekeeping Supervisor with Medals and Certificates. The participate of activities also awarded with nominated certificate.

BHA cut a grand cake for the event and launched 2nd edition of Magazine “Bangladesh Housekeepers Today” newsletter of BHA. Most of the Executive Housekeepers and Associates of the country from various star rated hotels were attend at the ceremony.

The president board of the association Mohammad Parvej, Khan Ali Azam and Alamgir Hossen managed the event. Abdullah Al Mamun and Nazmul Hasan also supported to run the event smoothly.

Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association promised to work together. They have a plan to establish a Tourism Training Institute very soon to prepare specialist for develop the tourism sector.

Mr. Krishan Kodippili has joined at Hotel Sarina in the position of General Manager

Mr. Krishan brings over 14 years of work experience in reputed organizations. He has played an instrumental role in uplifting the brand image of various organizations and bringing them to prominence. He has strong F&B educational background such as graduate with specialization in food & beverage operation.

However, Mr. Krishan is Executive Member of world association of Master Chefs and Sri Lanka hotel school Graduate Associations. His work experience and professional skills would benefit Hotel Sarina.

BHA steps forward for flood relief

Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association engaged in flood relief activities at Sylhet on 1st July 2022.

The energetic group of young hotelier team worked tirelessly. The association have distributed the relief to the remote area affected people. Most of the funds was supported by the employees of different hotels in Bangladesh.

Annual Outing Program 2022 at Kishoreganj Haor

Bangladesh Housekeepers’ Association (BHA) was arranged Annual Outing Program on 10th June 2022 at Kishoreganj. Most of the association members of Dhaka city were participates in the outing activities. They visited historical places like Sholakia Eidgah, Pagla Mosjid and Shahid Mosjid. They cooked the haor fresh fishes. They enjoyed swimming, playing games, catching fish etc. All the members had a good time and refreshment. They also discussed about future plan of the association.

Shakawath Hossain Reappointed as CEO of Unique Hotel & Resorts PLC

Recently, Shakawath Hossain has been reappointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Unique Hotel & Resorts PLC which is the owning company of The Westin Dhaka, Sheraton Dhaka and HANSA – a premium residence. Shakawath is the youngest professional in the industry to be assigned such a role of managing 3 leading hotel brands in Bangladesh as the CEO of the leading hospitality service provider company in the country – Unique Hotel & Resorts PLC.

Shakawath is a veteran contributor and leader in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry of Bangladesh with over 20+ years of experience working in multiple leadership roles for the Marriott International and Starwood Hotels & Resorts. He was also appointed as the youngest Resident Manager by Marriott International for The Westin Dhaka where he acted as the General Manager and led the team to generate the highest revenue and also win multiple international and local awards for the hotel from 2017 till 2019. For his superlative contribution, he was appointed as the CEO of Unique Hotel & Resorts PLC back in 2019. In 2020, to accept a new challenge he left his role to join StarkTree Group, a private sector high potential conglomerate, as their CEO.

At The Westin Dhaka, Shakawath was also the first Bangladeshi national who worked three years in various leadership positions – Resident Manager, Director of Operations, Director of Rooms and Director of Operational Excellence. Under his supervision, The Westin Dhaka became the top 3 hotels in the region in terms of ADR and RevPAR in Asia Pacific. He introduced many sustainable business practices which enhanced revenue generation, cost savings and increased guest & associate satisfaction. During his tenure at Westin, he showed his successful leadership ability in various capacities which include revenue management, operations management, resource development, process development and hotel pre-opening management along with having a sound knowledge about the overall market, including competitors’ strengths, economic trends, supply and demand.

He has won many accolades throughout his career for achieving exceptional results and recently he was recognized as a winner in Asian Curry Award 2021, for his impactful contribution, influence and leadership in the industry. The Curry Award is an exclusive International accolade awarded by Asian Catering Federation, UK for outstanding achievements and contribution in the national and global hospitality industry. He also holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) degree in Tourism and Hospitality from the University of Dhaka. In his free time, he loves researching on various topics in Hospitality & Tourism and also enjoys exploring new destinations with his family.
